Hello Healey Lakers
Many of us, including Arnie Sperl our Cottage Watch coordinator, have been keeping a close eye on ice conditions this winter. The reports are very discouraging. As recently as last weekend, some ATVs and snowmobiles have broken through the ice on various lakes including some very close to home. Sadly, we hear a recent Kapikog incident resulted in a loss of life.
Rather than put our volunteers at risk, the decision has been made to abandon this winter’s Cottage Watch program. The continued warm weather has made the ice extremely unreliable.
If you are a weekend user accessible by land, or a permanent resident of the lake, it would be appreciated if you could just keep an occasional eye on your neighbour’s property. In the absence of a 2023/24 Cottage Watch program, any issues noted could be reported to Dave Latter, cell 416-407-4965, dlatter1712@gmail.com and we can contact the owner on your behalf.
Thanks for your understanding. Hope next winter will be better.
